Bethany De Lude is a Managing Director and Chief Information Security Officer based in Washington, DC. She is also a member of Carlyle's Operating Committee and a recipient of the firm’s Changemaker award for her diversity, equity, and inclusion impact.
She leads Carlyle’s cybersecurity program and works with stakeholders across the firm to create an adaptable and secure business environment. Bethany is a driving force for operational resilience, smart design, and pragmatic investment, believing that cyber resilient organizations inspire trust, preserve value, and achieve competitive advantage by being able to focus on delivering strategic outcomes without distraction. She chairs Carlyle’s IT security steering committee and Americas Portfolio CISO Council and founded the Women of GTS cohort.
Prior to joining Carlyle, she was the first CISO for the Federal Judiciary, the PCAOB, and Riggs Bank. She has also held leadership positions at the National Security Agency, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and the Corporate Executive Board. Bethany earned an MS degree in Information and Telecommunication Systems from the Johns Hopkins University and a BA in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She holds a US Patent [#6,223,985] and has been a Certified Information Systems Security Professional [#27959] since 2002.
